Hey there, curious minds and tinkerers!
We're excited to share a project we've been working on – a linear motor kit that we think could spark some interesting ideas and experiments. This isn't about industrial solutions; it's about putting advanced motion control technology into the hands of researchers, educators, and makers like you.
What's in the Box?
Our kit includes:
- A 400mm single-rail linear motor
- A linear motor driver board
- A translator board (this is where the magic happens!)
- A PCB board with pre-built Marlin firmware, screen, and dial control
- Online guides for installation and controlling the motor for your project
Why We Think This is Cool?
- Linear motors are typically seen in high-end industrial applications. We're bringing this tech to your workbench.
- The translator board lets you control this linear motor as if it were a stepper motor. If you've worked with 3D printers or CNC machines, you'll feel right at home.
- It's precise. Really precise. We're talking 10-micron-level accuracy here..
Quick Setup Demo
We've put together a short video to show you just how easy it is to get this kit up and running. Check the video below👇
In the video, you'll see:
- What's in the kit
- What it can do
- Potential applications
Potential Applications
We're curious to see what you'll come up with, but here are a few ideas to get your gears turning:
- Ultra-precise camera sliders for macro photography
- High-resolution 3D scanners for small objects
- Custom lab equipment for microfluidics or material science
- Educational tools for teaching advanced motion control concepts
What's Next?
This is where you come in. We're sharing this kit concept to gauge interest and gather feedback. We'd love to hear your thoughts:
- What excites you about this kit?
- How would you use it in your projects or research?
- What features or modifications would make this even more useful for you?
Let's Collaborate!
We're not just selling a product; we're hoping to build a community of innovators. If you're interested in getting your hands on one of these kits or if you have ideas you'd like to share, drop us a line in the comments or reach out directly.
Remember, this is just the beginning. With your input and creativity, who knows where this technology could lead?
Let's push the boundaries of what's possible with precision motion control – together!

These would be perfect to use on a desktop wire edm where you can actually take advantage of the precision. Depending on how powerful they are they might even be good for a light duty cnc mill.
I just have a few questions
Do you guys plan on just selling them in the full kit or would there be an option to buy just the linear motor and drive? It would feel like kind of a waste to have to buy multiple marlin boards if i wanted to buy multiple linear motors for a project.
How much force can the linear motor produce?
Will there be software available to tune to motor fora specific application for example being able to tune for better speed, accuracy, or force?

Amazing work ! Let us know when it will be available for prototyping !!

Reply to Corneliu Ticu regarding: “Dear Magneto X R&D team, I am in I.T since 1984 at the age of 16, starting on the Z80 microprocessor, doing a lot of programming and CAD, and for a few years now in the field of prototyping using CNC machines with extruder, laser and drills. The most I’m missing, summing up all these is a desktop CNC of a certain type that needs to be precise, powerful and silent. I would like to share with you this idea if you would be interested. Is there any mail where I could send you my idea?”
Hi Corneliu, Thank you for sharing your impressive background and your idea with us! We are always excited to hear about innovative concepts. Please send your detailed idea to our team at support@peopoly.net. We look forward to receiving your suggestion.

We’d be interested in evaluating this, with the possibility of developing a controller for it connected by CAN-FD bus to our Duet 3 control boards.

Besides the obvious 3d printer modes that would benefit from this (IDEX with dual carriages, cross gantry setups), a sand table build with these would be fun.

I’d be particularly interested in how it could be used for micro-manipulation, specifically ‘geared-down’ and damped duplication of movement from an external input – e.g. a joystick.
Keen to see what price point or options you land on.

Hey guys absolutely amazing we’re working on a reprap printer (infini z) and we absolutely loved the idea of using linear motor. We were working on making our own when you released the magneto x and now that such kit exist it will be absolutely be ideal
Now we only need to see how expensive and when will it be available.
Thanks for your work guys
Really appreciated it

I’d absolutely love to buy one of these
